From their fantastic plumes, to their bizarre dances and courtship displays, the birds-of-paradise are unlike any creature on Earth. Found only in New Guinea and parts of Australia, the birds-of-paradise are a result of millions of years of sexual selection at work.

In 2004, National Geographic photographer and field biologist Tim Laman and Cornell University Lab of Ornithology scientist Edwin Scholes began a series of expeditions to document these extraordinary birds. Eight years and 18 expeditions later, they have amassed photographic and video coverage of all 39 known species and several behaviors never documented before.

The interactive exhibition takes visitors through daring expeditions, world culture, extreme evolution, and conservation, as only National Geographic can present, with stunning imagery, compelling video, soundscapes, artifacts, engaging educational activities, and supplementary programming for all ages.

Kids receive free admission Thursdays, sponsored by Animal Jam.

This exhibition was developed by National Geographic and The Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
