The All Roads Film Project pays a tribute to women in film during Women’s History Month from its “Women Hold Up Half the Sky” program. Produced by Heather Rae and directed by Courtney Hunt, this dramatic story—which has received Academy Award® nominations for Best Actress (Melissa Leo) and Best Original Screenplay, and seven Spirit Award nominations, in addition to winning the New York Film Critics Circle Award for “Best First Film”—follows two resilient women who are determined to not succumb to their desperate situations yet get drawn into the world of immigrant smuggling across the frozen waters of the St. Lawrence river along the U.S.-Canadian border. Actress Misty Upham (Blackfeet), nominated for the “Best Supporting Female” Spirit Award, will participate in a discussion after the screening.
