A small radio station in a remote Arctic community, CBQM is the cultural heart of the area—not only a source of information, but a means of communication for its residents. As one of the women featured mentions, not only is CBQM the radio station’s call letters, but they have a folk etymology/backronym for “Come Back Quick, Mum.” Low on dialogue, high on spirited characters this documentary evokes the stark surroundings and tight-knit community through loving environment shots, humor, and a soundtrack of country and local folk music.
Screened with a short film:
Shining Spirit: The Musical Journey of Jamyang Yeshi – A testament to the enduring bond of a family separated by politics and geography, but brought together again through the power of music.
