Renowned photographer Sam Abell has been photographing our world since 1970. Drawing from his rich portfolio, including the Lewis & Clark expedition, the Mississippi River, the writing of the U.S. Constitution, and the lives of Leo Tolstoy, Lewis Carroll, and Winslow Homer, Abell extracts insights for life and work.
In the mid-nineties Abell and historian Stephen Ambrose retraced the Lewis and Clark trail, pouring over journals and reflecting on the trials and tribulations of what is still considered one of the boldest expeditions of all time. Using stunning imagery from his book Lewis & Clark: Voyage of Discovery, Abell explores the delicate balance between leadership and partnership that Lewis and Clark mastered in order to succeed on their journey.
