Best known for his photographs of wildlife, particularly endangered species, Joel Sartore wields his camera in the battle to conserve natural spaces and the habitats they support. For a story published in the April issue of National Geographic, Sartore investigated the alarming disappearance of amphibian species—once a mystery, but now known to be caused by a complex of forces including habitat destruction and an exotic fungus which threatens to make extinct fully 50% of all amphibians.
