Celebrate Arbor Day with “the queen of forest canopy research.” Forest ecologist Nalini Nadkarni has spent more than two decades exploring life in the treetops. She is a professor at Evergreen State University and the creator of the Big Canopy Database, a state-of-the-art repository that enables interdisciplinary studies. In 2008 she released her book, Between Earth and Sky: Our Intimate Connection with Trees, a multifaceted celebration of trees, a look at the profound connection we have with them, and the lessons they hold for us.
