First published 400 years ago, the King James Bible is a landmark both of biblical translation and the English language. British author Adam Nicolson, the scion of one of Britain’s great literary families (his grandparents were Harold Nicolson and Vita Sackville-West), for an article in the December 2011 National Geographic, traveled from this Bible’s homeland in England to the far reaches of the English-speaking world, where people of many backgrounds continue to find beauty and faith in its words.
