Photograph by Frans LantingAcclaimed photographer Frans Lanting recently documented surviving cheetah populations in Africa and Asia, including “supermoms” raising litters on the run. He and filmmaker Christine Eckstrom will show images and video of these beautiful creatures. Then cinematographer Gregory J. Wilson, who took high-speed images of cheetahs in action (see video below), will share the cutting-edge technology of this new technique, which expands our understanding of cheetah bio-mechanics.
The event will conclude with a conversation with the presenters and Luke Hunter, president of Panthera, Luke Dollar, grants program director of National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative, and Laurie Marker, founder and executive director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund, moderated by National Geographic Editor in Chief Chris Johns.
