Washington Survey Sweepstakes Rules

OFFICIAL RULES: 2009 National Geographic Live Washington, DC Sweepstakes: ELIGIBILITY: NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. This sweepstakes is open only to attendees of the 2009 National Geographic Live Speaker Series in Washington, DC. Entries are limited to individuals only; commercial enterprises and business entities are not eligible. Employees or contract employees of sponsor, National Geographic Society (the “Sponsor”) and its affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate families or persons living in the same household of such individuals, are ineligible. SCHEDULE The sweepstakes begins on July 7, 2009 and ends on July 17, 2009. Entries must be postmarked by July 17, 2009 and received by July 24, 2009 (one week later). HOW TO ENTER: To enter, use a 3×5 card to print your first and last name, complete address, city, state, zip code, daytime telephone number, and email address. Put the entry in an envelope, affix first-class postage, and send it to Sponsor at: National Geographic Live Washington, DC, Attn: Ticket Office, 1145 17th St, NW Washington D.C. 20036(“Mailing Address”). Anyone completing the 2009 National Geographic Live Washington, DC survey will be automatically entered in sweepstakes. Limit one entry per person. Subsequent entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of Sponsor. They will not be returned or acknowledged. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, or postage-due mail. Entries are void if they are in whole or in part illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, or obtained through fraud or theft. By entering you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. FIRST PLACE PRIZE: Two (2) First Place winners will be randomly selected. First Place prize consists of one (1) pair of 3-part series tickets to the 2009 National Geographic Live Washington, DC Masters of Photography Series. Seats are General Admission ($45 each). Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of First Place prize is $90. SECOND PLACE PRIZE: Two (2) Second Place winners will be randomly selected. Second Place prize consists of one (1) National Geographic duffle bag. ARV of Second Place Prize is $65. No prize transfer, assignment or substitution by winners permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize in the event of unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. SELECTION: Random selection of the winners will occur on or about July 24, 2009 from among all eligible entries received. The winners will be notified by e-mail or phone on or about July 24, 2009. Limit one prize per person, family or household. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. REDEMPTION AND VERIFICATION: To redeem the prize, winners must respond within ten (10) days of prize notification. All prize claims are subject to verification and compliance with the official rules. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: By participating, participants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Sponsor and its partners, affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any liability, claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in the sweepstakes or any sweepstakes-related activities and the acceptance, use, misuse, or possession of any prize received in this sweepstakes. Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these official rules; and (b) that the decisions of Sponsor are final on all matters relating to the sweepstakes. All federal, state and local taxes, fees and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. If a prizewinner declines the prize or is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected at random from all remaining eligible entries. GENERAL INFORMATION: WINNERS LIST For a list of winners after July 24, 2009, send a separate self-addressed, stamped envelope to Sponsor at the Mailing Address (Residents of Vermont need not include return postage). NOTICE TO INDIVIDUALS: REMOVAL FROM MAILING LIST: To elect to have an individual’s name excluded from all lists used by Sponsor to mail skill contests or sweepstakes, submit a removal request in writing to Sponsor at Mailing Address.
