Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster and craft-brewing authority Garrett Oliver shares a recent trend: the return to wooden barrels for aging beer. Some craft brewers are using oak and other woods to impart flavors or to pass on flavors from beverages previously contained in the barrels. Oliver will explain the history and philosophy of barrel aging, and guide a tasting of several complex barrel-aged beers. Must be 21 or older.
Sponsored in part by the BRICKSKELLER, home to the world’s largest selection of beers, and presented with the assistance of Brewers United for Real Potables (BURP).
