Photograph by Joel SartoreOn Saturday, August 1, photographer Joel Sartore will visit the Fairmont Scottsdale to lead morning and afternoon National Geographic-inspired activities for children ages 5–12 who are staying with their parents at the Fairmont Scottsdale that weekend and who are enrolled in the NG Explorers Camp. There is also an event designed for the whole family on Saturday night! Fees apply for these programs.
Joel Sartore is a photographer and passionate conservationist. He has contributed to more than 20 articles for National Geographic. One story in particular was so moving that it convinced the Bolivian government not to flood a portion of its pristine forest and instead to establish a series of national parks. Closer to home, Joel has turned his lens on Alaska’s North Slope, focusing on the unique dynamic of oil, wildlife and native people in the region, presenting a balanced view of the drilling debate. Joel recently released a book titled Photographing Your Family. A favorite among National Geographic speakers, his entertaining presentations blend humor with a powerful conservation message and award-winning photography.
