Species driven to the verge of extinction, coral reefs bleaching and dying out, huge “dead zones” of marine life. Recent decades have had a greater—and more dangerous—impact on our oceans than all the rest of history combined. Renowned oceanographer and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Sylvia Earle suggests that the next 10 years will be pivotal in saving, or losing, our oceans. In conversation with the Rt. Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, Dean of National Cathedral, Earle will offer a look at the role oceans play in the survival of our planet and our spiritual relationship to creation.
The discussion will be followed by a book signing featuring Dr. Earle’s new National Geographic book The World Is Blue: How Our Fate and the Ocean’s Are One.
This event will take place at Washington National Cathedral.
