National Geographic is committed to promoting the use of sustainable transportation as a way to reduce local traffic congestion and air pollution. While we do provide driving and parking information, please consider some of the District’s alternative transportation options, which can be found on goDCgo.com’s interactive map.

National Geographic Headquarters is located at 17th and M Street, NW. The Museum and Store entrance is at 1145 17th Street; the Grosvenor Auditorium entrance is at 1600 M Street. Wheelchair access is available on M Street just east of 17th Street. Grosvenor Auditorium has wheelchair access and elevator access from the parking garage.

The National Geographic Museum is located a few blocks from the Farragut North Metro on the Metro’s Red Line. Make a left out of the L Street exit, walk one block, and make a left on 17th Street. The Museum will be on your right.
Alternatively, take the Blue or Orange Lines to Farragut West. Make a right out of the Metro, turn left on 17th Street, walk two blocks, and the Museum is on the right. Visit the Metro website for more station information.

By MetroBus
A dozen MetroBus routes have stops located within a 1/4 mile of the National Geographic Museum. Additional routes have stops located within a 1/2 mile. To find the route closest to you, visit the Metro website.

By DC Circulator
The DC Circulator has one stop within walking distance of the National Geographic Museum. The Georgetown-Union Station Route has a stop on K Street and Connecticut Avenue. From there, walk east on K Street and turn left on 17th Street. Walk one and a half more blocks and the Museum is on the right. For more information, visit www.dccirculator.com.

Capital Bikeshare
The District’s bike-sharing program makes bicycles available to anyone. Simply take a bike from one of over 115 stations in D.C. and Arlington, and return it to a docking station close to the Museum. The closest docking stations to the Museum are located at K and 17th Streets and 17th Street and Rhode Island Avenue. Bikes
The League of American Bicyclists has named National Geographic a silver Bicycle Friendly Business. For evening and weekend events, bicycle parking is available on level P-1 of the garage and at bike racks on M Street. For weekday daytime events parking is only available at the M Street bike racks.

Parking
Metered parking is available on M, 17th, and 16th Streets (please check meter carefully for hours of operation). Nearby parking garages are located on 17th Street between M and L Streets. To find more information on locations of parking garages and prices visit washingtondc.bestparking.com/

Free underground parking is available for National Geographic Live! ticket holders. Patrons who plan to pick up tickets at will call should bring a print or digital copy of their order confirmation to guarantee access to the parking garage. Garage opens:
*5:30 p.m. for 6 p.m. events on weekdays
*1 hour prior for 6:30 p.m. or later events on weekdays
*1 hour prior for all events on weekends

Accessibility
Please call two weeks prior to your visit for sign language interpretation, captioning, or hearing assistance devices. The ramp to access the Museum is located on M Street just east of 17th Street. Call 202.857.7700 for details regarding wheelchair access in Grosvenor Auditorium. A limited number of complimentary wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
